For the Minnesota Wild, their current road trip cannot end soon enough and, thankfully, they will see it come to a close tonight in Carolina as they face-off against the up-and-down Hurricanes.

As inconsistent as the Wild have played of late, the Hurricanes have been arguably much worse, having lost five of their last eight games including a 3-2 overtime loss to the New York Islanders on Tuesday night. That gives Minnesota an excellent opportunity to close this dreadful road trip on a positive note.

Minnesota is 1-3-0 on their current road trip and are in danger of losing their third consecutive game for the first time this season.

"For the most part, it's been pretty consistent [this season]," Captain Mikko Koivu said. "Right now, we're trying to get back at it and get back on the right track. We're trying to live in the moment and get ready for the next one, improve as the team."

Having played six games in the last 11 days, Wild Head Coach Bruce Boudreau stressed the importance of getting good practices in, especially as the regular season comes to a close.

Coming off a 4-2 loss to the Capitals on Tuesday night, the Wild will look to do their part in getting themselves back to the top spot in the Western Conference after falling one point behind the Chicago Blackhawks who are winners of two-straight.

Chicago will be in action tonight against a very good Ottawa Senators team that has won seven of their last 10 games and climbed to the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference.

Key things to note for Minnesota before tonight's game: Boudreau will be coaching his 750th career game tonight and defenseman Ryan Suter will be playing in his 900th career game.

Boudreau on 750: "It's interesting. I hadn't realized it had been that many games."

The puck drops tonight at 6:08 P.M. CST and can be heard on KFAN 100.3 FM.
